Querida Sol is an anonymous advice column about growing up human in the 21st century. QS accepts letters about a range of life questions, such as relationship issues and difficult life choices. QS is unique in that the column also accepts letters about the choices and questions brought up by climate change, contemporary lifestyles, sexism, and other big issues faced by young people today.

You can read more about Querida Sol and its author here.

Your letter should describe one or both of the following: a deep question you may be seeking answers to; or a predicament or difficult situation you’re looking for guidance on.

Here are some guiding questions that would be helpful to answer within the body of your letter:

    • What have you tried so far to deal with the situation? What has worked and what hasn’t? Why or why not?
    • Has this issue been a pattern in your life? When did it start, how has it evolved?
    • Give a little context to your life: your age and gender; your general wellbeing. How does the question or situation that you’re writing about fit into the bigger picture of your life?

Put your best writing forward! Clear and simple language is often best when we’re talking heart to heart.

Keep your letter to within 200-350 words (about half to a full page of a Word doc).

Format your letter with the greeting “Querida Sol” (in English, this means “Dear Sol”) and a closing signature that keeps you anonymous but describes your situation. Get creative! Examples: From, Confused; Sincerely, Searching for a Superpower; Love, Broke But Hopeful.

Letters chosen for publication will be published on www.caminolibre.com within three weeks of their submission to Querida Sol
